A black cat, a crystal ball, chicken bones, tealeaves: In the past, you needed quite a range of things to see into the future. And today?

Wellies or hippie sandals? Straw hat or sou’wester? Will the weekend be sunny or will it be the perfect rainy day to finally get that tax return done that you have been postponing for weeks? Thanks to local.ch, second-guessing these questions is now in the past. A search for a location in Switzerland in the map section now shows on the results page the weather for the next five days (including the current date) with the daily maximum temperature and the probability of rain.

And what’s more, the results page of a location search now also displays images of this location. Images indexed by users on the web under the location name have been uploaded to help you collect even more information on your location search at a glance. In other words, if you see that rain is forecast for your weekend destination, you can simultaneously check whether there is any shelter on site. Or at least an umbrella shop.

The new detailed display of the location search in local.ch’s map section even shows you links to the most popular sector searches in the location searched on the left-hand side of the display. This means that you can display relevant business entries on the map with a simple click. The entries are shown with a pin on the map.

Like the previous version, a search for a street or exact address displays all the businesses found at that location. And to quickly get where you want to be, route planning for all of Switzerland is available to you at local.ch. And we have even improved that function too: when you have had a route calculated, you can adjust it to your personal needs using drag and drop.

This means that you can click on the route displayed with your mouse and reroute it via a certain place by holding down the mouse button. This helps when you know that your planned itinerary must go through this or that place.

You can then get a detailed view of your adjusted route by zooming into the map.

Now all you need for a successful trip out into the world with map.local.ch is better weather. At least until an instant sunshine app has been invented. But that can be only a matter of time.
